Question 3, Race

In the Ghetto Delta Airlines video black stereotypes are used to portray race. The white guy is advertizing an airline to black people while using “Ghetto slang” and bad grammar. They portray a stereotypical black man from the “Ghetto” with no shirt, a grill, and cornrows. Everest College advertisement portrays the black man in the video as someone most likely attempting to persuade members of his “own race” to get an education. Both videos use symbolizes of black stereotypes such as the slang/accent. A major difference between the two videos is that the Ghetto Airlines video intentional constructs these stereotypes to make a statement, while the Everest College ad is actually being stereotypical and is not trying to make a statement on race.
